On my ride down to Yuma last week, I recalled a conversation I had with a friend, many years ago, that included an explanation of a "farsee," as related to distance.
A farsee is a simple measurement, and it somehow puts everything into perspective! It is variable, ubiquitous, yet strangely accurate...
"It is three farsees... look as far as you can see, go there. From there, look again as far as you can see and go there. Then look again, as far as you can see, and go there. It will then be close."
For me, PHX to YUM is just over six farsees.
Farsees do not easily convert into a measurement of time though... some will travel a farsee faster than others, some slower. I myself, have traveled the same farsees many times, all with varying times.
Tonight is my last shift here in YUM, tomorrow a get together with friends, on Thursday an even smaller get together. Then a ride home, a rest/reset, then a ride on.
I tried to correlate the concept of a farsee to time, and quickly realized that although it exists, I could not comprehend or understand it. I can only get to the first farsee. After that, I can not see beyond.
So I retire for my night with this.
If you want to make God laugh...
Try telling God your plans!
Peace!
